Dunn Police Explorer Post starting January 2023
Dunn PAL and the Dunn Police Department are reviving the Dunn Police Explorer Post Program starting January 23, 2023!
Police Explorers is a career-oriented program that gives young adults the opportunity to explore a career in law enforcement by working with our local police department. This has been an excellent community policing tool in the past.
Police Exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women who have completed the 5th grade in school ages 12 through 20 years old, that may be interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system.
The program offers young adults a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences, competition and other activities. Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism.
Each person must go through a screening process prior to being accepted into the program to ensure integrity of the program.
This will be a structured form of some type training like police officers will receive along with a ride-a-long experience so the public may get an experience for what police officers encounter every day and classes will be taught by certified police training instructors.
