More Than Radio. A Youth Media Experience.
KMIX Radio is Dunn PAL's youth internet radio station and an extension of the Dunn PAL Media Arts Program. Young people receive hands-on opportunities to learn how a real digital radio station operates while developing communication, technology, leadership, teamwork and career-readiness skills.
How KMIX Radio Works
Youth work alongside Dunn PAL staff and instructors to learn the process of creating, producing and delivering internet radio and digital media content.
Learn Broadcasting
Youth learn microphone technique, announcing, radio presentation, interviewing and on-air communication while gaining confidence speaking to an audience.
Produce Programs
Students learn how to plan shows, organize content, record audio and work with digital production equipment and broadcasting technology.
Create Podcasts
Youth can develop podcasts and special programs centered on youth, education, sports, entertainment and topics important to their community.
News & Community
Participants learn how to research, prepare and present school, youth, PAL and community news in an informative and age-appropriate format.
Sports Broadcasting
Youth can cover Dunn PAL athletics, interview athletes and coaches, discuss sports and develop sports reporting and broadcasting skills.
Music Programming
Participants learn about radio programming, music presentation, transitions, station identification and responsible media use.

Dunn PAL Wildcats coverage, sports conversations, athlete interviews and opportunities for youth to practice sports reporting.
🎧 Podcasts
Student-created podcasts, conversations, educational programs and special-interest programming.
🌎 Community
Information about Dunn PAL programs, local events, community resources, youth opportunities and community initiatives.
Skills Youth Can Develop
KMIX Radio provides hands-on learning experiences that can help young people build skills useful in school, college, careers and everyday life.
Want to Join KMIX Radio?
KMIX Radio operates through the Dunn PAL Media Arts Program. Youth interested in participating should register for the Dunn PAL After-School Program and select Media Arts Program during registration.
🎙️ REGISTER FOR MEDIA ARTSYouth who are not already registered as a Dunn PAL participant must also complete the Dunn PAL Youth Participation Application.
