Youth Chess at Dunn PAL
Chess is much more than a board game. It gives youth an opportunity to develop critical-thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills while learning how to think several moves ahead.
Through the Dunn PAL Reigning Bishops, youth learn basic and advanced chess strategies while practicing regularly with other players. Participants are encouraged to challenge themselves, compete fairly and learn from both victories and losses.
As players improve, they may have opportunities to represent Dunn PAL in competitive chess tournaments and travel-team events.
The program focuses on developing the whole young person by combining chess instruction with sportsmanship, responsibility, confidence and leadership.
